Blaskapelle Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn

The wind band Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn consists of approximately 200 active musicians of all age groups. The musicians range from enthusiastic amateurs to graduate standard players. Every year we perform four symphonic concerts with challenging programs. At the same time we are a typical Bavarian band, wearing the traditional costumes: leather trousers (Lederhosen) and loden jackets. We participate in parades, play in beer tens and beer gardens and are present at local events, like the maypole raising (Maibaum-Aufstellen).

The wind band is located in the rural community Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn, about 20 kilometres in the south-east of Munich. Our aim is to provide an opportunity for common music in a friendly and dynamic atmosphere for the enjoyment of the local players and of the public.

The wind band was established in 1980 and flourished under the auspices of its first musical director Erich Sepp. In 2000 Konrad Sepp, who is one of the three professional conductors, took over the patronage of the wind band. A main reason for the wind band’s impressive growth and its musical success is its emphasis on youth work. 13 teachers educate over 100 students with different instrument types. Two of our four orchestras are for younger and less experienced players.

The wind band has been working since many years to set up a wide musical spectrum without any loss in quality. With this musical direction in mind, we have meanwhile managed to become one of the largest amateur music associations within Bavaria. Due to the size, the quality and the youth work the wind band has been awarded with the Bavarian National Prize for music in 2015.

In 2017, the wind band organized a trumpet festival in collaboration with the international renowned trumpeter Reinhold Friedrich. As part of the festival, an opening concert with Reinhold Friedrich, an international master class and a final concert performed by the master class took place. The final concert was recorded and broadcasted by the Bavarian broadcasting association.

Our musical repertoire includes traditional Bavarian folk music as well as Jazz and Swing and arrangements of classical and symphonic pieces. If you are interested in an audio sample, you can listen to some of our performances here. For our twenty-fifth anniversary in 2005, we recorded a CD containing pieces which have proven popular with our audiences. The CD is available for purchase via our order form. There you can purchase our second CD “Jetzt geht’s rund” as well. Usually we only supply in Germany. If you live somewhere else please contact us and we will find a solution.

We cooperate with local and regional bands and choirs as well as travel national and international. In 2008 we were invited to participate as a special guest at the Fiesta Major in Vilafranca, Spain. In 2014 the wind band travelled to Transylvania, Romania. During one week we played at different places, for example at the Braşov council square.
